Crisfield and the seafood industry are synonymous and the town features excellent seafood restaurants. Crisfield is proud of its ties to the Chesapeake Bay. In its hay day it was known as the crab capital of the world! Each year on the third Wednesday in July we host all of Maryland for the J. Millard Tawes Crab and Clam Bake. We are home to the annual National Hard Crab Derby each Labor Day weekend. Janes Island State park is a few minutes away as is the Somers Cove Marina. There are places to rent kayaks, canoes and bikes. Bird watching is unsurpassed. Crisfield is the boarding port for day trips to both Smith and Tangier Island, both of which should not be missed!
